when cradle cap keeps coming back!!Here's what you need to know

It's completely understandable to feel concerned

### 🍼 Is it normal for cradle cap to recur?

Yes, **it’s quite common** for cradle cap (seborrheic dermatitis) to come and go in babies during their first year. It’s not usually a sign of anything you're doing wrong. It’s caused by:

* Overactive oil glands (due to maternal hormones still in the baby’s system)

* Natural yeast (Malassezia) on the skin that thrives in oily areas

### 🔄 Why it might be recurring:

Excess oil production**: Some babies just have oilier scalps

Incomplete removal**: Even if flakes are cleared, the underlying oiliness remains, so it returns

Sweating and humidity**: Warm weather can make it worse

Shampoo frequency**: Not washing enough or overwashing can both contribute

### ✅ What you can do:

* **Gentle scalp massage** before shampooing with coconut or mineral oil, leave it for 15–30 mins

* Use a **mild baby shampoo** regularly (2–3 times a week) to remove excess oil

* Use a soft baby brush to gently lift flakes after washing

* Avoid harsh soaps or adult shampoos

* If it's very stubborn or spreading (behind ears, eyebrows), consider seeing a pediatrician—they might suggest a mild medicated shampoo or cream

### 🧘‍♀️ Important to remember:

You are not doing anything wrong. Recurrence doesn’t reflect poor hygiene or parenting. It’s a harmless, self-limiting condition that usually resolves completely as your baby grows.
